Louisiana squeaks by Fayetteville, 4-3

The game between the Louisiana IceGators and the Fayetteville FireAntz was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Louisiana emerged with a 4-3 win.

The IceGators gained the winning advantage on a goal by Weston Cydell 12:26 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Louisiana got the win with help from a great game by Matthew Robertson, who had two goals and one assist. Robertson scored the first of his two goals at 10:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Louisiana. Marc Andre Carre picked up the assist. Robertson's next tally made the score 2-1 Louisiana with 8:36 left in the second period. Eric Tallent provided the assist.

The IceGators managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Louisiana finished below its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. The 33 shots that the IceGators put on net surpassed Louisiana's average of 22.3 shots per game this season.

Louisiana additionally got points from Cydell, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Jeremey Boyer, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Louisiana came via Greg Brown, Robert Short, and Jordan Foreman, who each chipped in one.

Fayetteville was below its usual level of shot production, taking 25 shots compared to the 31.9 the FireAntz average.

Fayetteville was helped by Anthony Bergin, who grabbed one goal. Bergin scored 11:30 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Kyle McNeil picked up the assist. Fayetteville also got points from Bobby Reed, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Mike Gurtler also scored for Fayetteville. In addition, Fayetteville received assists from Brandon Richardson, who had two and John Clewlow and Ben Contini, who contributed one a piece.

Riley Gill rejected 22 shots on goal for the IceGators. Louisiana registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Kyle Rank recorded 29 saves for the FireAntz. Fayetteville incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
