Huge game by Robertson boosts Louisiana over Mississippi RiverKings, 6-3

Matthew Robertson had two goals and one assist to lead the Louisiana IceGators to a 6-3 victory over Mississippi RiverKings.

Robertson found the back of the net 31 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Louisiana and again while 1:46 into the second to make the score 3-0 Louisiana.

Louisiana stifled Mississippi RiverKings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The IceGators surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Louisiana averages 3.4 goals per game. The IceGators' offense was clicking better than usual and put 31 shots on goal during the game, better than the 23.4 shots per game they average.

Louisiana additionally got points from Denny Kearney, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Jordan Foreman, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Kyle OKane, who also had one goal and one assist. Clark Byczynski also scored for Louisiana. More assists for Louisiana came via Robert Short, who had two and Tyler Lyon, Josh Duplantis, Shawn McNeil, Marc Andre Carre, Matt Lawrance, and Eric Tallent, who contributed one a piece.

Mississippi RiverKings forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. Mississippi RiverKings surpassed its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. Mississippi RiverKings' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Louisiana power plays. Mississippi RiverKings' offense rang up 31 shots on Louisiana's net. Mississippi RiverKings' defensemen bolstered Mississippi RiverKings' offensive attack, as they bombarded Riley Gill with 13 shots.
