Augusta downs Fayetteville in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Augusta RiverHawks pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over the Fayetteville FireAntz on a clutch goal by Ian Watters.

Watters had two goals and one assist to lead Augusta. Watters scored the first of his two goals at 14:01 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Drew Baker picked up the assist. Watters' next tally made the score 3-2 Augusta with 16:47 left in overtime.

The RiverHawks put 44 shots on net during the contest, more than the 28.4 they average per game.

Augusta also got a goal from Shawn Skelly as well. Other players who recorded assists for Augusta were William Lacasse and Alex Morton, who contributed one a piece.

Fayetteville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The FireAntz forced Augusta goalie Austin Lee to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Fayetteville was helped by Bobby Reed, who registered one goal. Reed scored 7:34 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fayetteville. Kyle McNeil provided the assist. Josh McQuade also scored for Fayetteville. In addition, Fayetteville received assists from Anthony Bergin, Andrew Smale, and Tristin Llewellyn, who each chipped in one.

Austin Lee made 31 saves for the RiverHawks on 33 shots. Augusta incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Kyle Rank rejected 41 shots on goal for the FireAntz. Fayetteville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
