Huntsville survives Louisiana comeback, wins 5-4Breland Homes Ice Wed, Dec 26, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Huntsville Havoc came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Louisiana IceGators, but did just enough to escape with a 5-4 victory. Huntsville led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Havoc's Brett Liscomb's scored at 10:14 in the second period to put Huntsville up 3-0. The Havoc got the win thanks to a great game by Kyle Laughlin, who had one goal and two assists. Laughlin scored 6:17 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Huntsville. Huntsville outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Havoc average 2.4 goals per contest. By firing 37 shots on goal, Huntsville exceeded the 22.3 shots it averages per game this year. Huntsville also got points from Colin Reddin, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Liscomb, who also tallied two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Huntsville also got a goal from Chapen LeBlond as well. In addition, Huntsville received assists from Bryant Doerrsam, Sam Cannata, and Ian Boots, who contributed one a piece. Louisiana stifled the Havoc's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The IceGators put 31 shots on net during the contest, more than the 24.9 they average per game. Louisiana was helped by Robert Short, who registered three goals. Marc Andre Carre also scored for Louisiana. Other players who recorded assists for Louisiana were Matthew Robertson, who had two, Denny Kearney, who had three, and Tyler Lyon, Eric Tallent, and Kyle OKane, who each chipped in one. Dan McWhinney rejected 27 shots on goal for Huntsville. The Havoc incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Jesse Kallechy recorded 32 saves for the IceGators. Louisiana incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
