Mississippi RiverKings penalty kill dominates in 2-1 defeat of Huntsville

Mississippi RiverKings' penalty kill was superb, as Mississippi RiverKings survived multiple penalties to beat the Huntsville Havoc, 2-1.

Mississippi RiverKings was sparked by Todd Hosmer, who finished with one goal. Hosmer scored 15:10 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Mississippi RiverKings. Jeremy Dawes assisted on the tally.

Mississippi RiverKings excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Mississippi RiverKings could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game.

Mississippi RiverKings also got a goal from Darrell Stoddard as well. In addition, Mississippi RiverKings received assists from Mike Baran, who had one.

Huntsville stifled Mississippi RiverKings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Havoc's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Huntsville finished with 40 penalty minutes.

The Havoc were led by Aaron McGill, who scored the team's only goal. McGill scored 2:07 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Cody Crichton provided the assist.

David Wilson rejected 21 shots on goal for Mississippi RiverKings. Mississippi RiverKings registered zero goals on eight power play opportunities. Huntsville's Jonathan LaRose stopped 26 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The Havoc ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and McGill was ejected from the game.
