Mississippi Surge survived a determined comeback attempt by the Louisiana IceGators on the way to a 2-1 win.

A goal by Jay Silvia put Mississippi Surge up 2-0 in the third period, but Louisiana pulled to within one on Denny Kearney's tally 18:55 into the third period.

The IceGators were stymied by Mississippi Surge netminder Dan Clark, who stopped 37 shots during the victory. Clark managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.25 prior to the game.

Mississippi Surge was often in penalty trouble, totaling nine minors and two majors for 28 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 22.0 minutes per game Mississippi Surge had been spending in the box.
