Emond, Fayetteville blank Pensacola, 2-0

The Fayetteville FireAntz used a sparkling performance by Marco Emond to take down the Pensacola Ice Flyers, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Fayetteville's 2-0 shutout victory.

The FireAntz were led by Josh McQuade, who grabbed one goal. McQuade scored 19:29 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Fayetteville.

Fayetteville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The FireAntz's defensive effort looked to be improved. Fayetteville averages 2.5 goals allowed per game.

Fayetteville also got a goal from Derek Elliott as well.

Pensacola stifled the FireAntz's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Ice Flyers did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Pensacola puts an average of 3.0 pucks into the net per game. The Ice Flyers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

Pensacola was led by Pat Knowlton, who took five shots.

Emond recorded 28 saves for Fayetteville. The FireAntz incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Ice Flyers' Ross MacKinnon stopped 27 shots out of the 28 that he faced.
