Knoxville holds on for 4-3 win against Mississippi RiverKings

Mississippi RiverKings tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but the Knoxville Ice Bears held on for a 4-3 victory.

Knoxville took a 4-1 lead during the third period, only to have Mississippi RiverKings storm back on a Ian Finnerty goal 17:51 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Ice Bears pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 19 penalty minutes.

Mississippi RiverKings was unable to stop Knoxville from sending pucks towards the net, and the Ice Bears eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

Knoxville was helped by David Segal, who registered one goal. Segal scored on the power play 15:58 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Knoxville. The Ice Bears had gained a power play chance when Todd Hosmer was whistled for slashing. Jeremy Klaver provided the assist. Knoxville also got a goal from Tyler Fernandez as well. In addition, Knoxville received assists from Berkley Scott, who had two and Steve Wiedler, Shaun Arvai, and Mark Van Vliet, who contributed one a piece.

Mississippi RiverKings was led by Kyle Lundale, who finished with one goal and one assist. Lundale scored 12:55 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mississippi RiverKings. Kevin Willer picked up the assist. Nick Walsh also scored for Mississippi RiverKings. Other players who recorded assists for Mississippi RiverKings were Andrew Randazzo, who had one.

Connor Toomey made 27 saves for Knoxville on 30 shots. The Ice Bears registered three goals on six power play opportunities. David Wilson rejected 36 shots on goal for Mississippi RiverKings. Mississippi RiverKings totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play.
