Mississippi Surge stifles Huntsville's comeback, gains 4-2 victory

Mississippi Surge, which led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Mississippi Surge and clinched a 4-2 victory.

Mississippi Surge led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Mississippi Surge's Payden Benning's scored at 8:58 in the second period to put Mississippi Surge up 4-1.

Mississippi Surge was paced by Richard VanderHoek, who had one goal and one assist. VanderHoek scored 3:36 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Mississippi Surge. Jeff Grant assisted on the tally.

With 33 shots on target during the contest, Mississippi Surge exceeded the 26.1 shots it averages per game this year.

Mississippi Surge also got points from Grant, who also registered one goal and one assist. Mississippi Surge also got a goal from BJ Crum as well. In addition, Mississippi Surge received assists from James Isaacs, Kyle VanderMale, and Corey Tamblyn, who each chipped in two.

Mississippi Surge was unable to stop the Huntsville Havoc from sending pucks towards the net, and Huntsville eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

The Havoc were helped by Bill Baker, who tallied one goal. Baker scored 13:38 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Mississippi Surge. Stuart Stefan picked up the assist. Huntsville additionally got points from Colin Reddin, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Huntsville came via Mike MacDonald and Chapen LeBlond, who contributed one a piece.
