Mississippi RiverKings beats Louisiana 4-3 after comeback scareCajundome Sun, Dec 02, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Louisiana IceGators tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but Mississippi RiverKings held on for a 4-3 victory. A goal by Patrick Gaul put Mississippi RiverKings up 3-1 in the third period, but Louisiana pulled to within one on Shawn McNeil's tally 4:58 into the third period. Gaul had a great game for Mississippi RiverKings, netting two goals. With 35 shots on target during the contest, Mississippi RiverKings exceeded the 27.7 shots it averages per game this year. Andrew Randazzo also scored for Mississippi RiverKings. Other players who recorded assists for Mississippi RiverKings were Steven Kaunisto, Ian Finnerty, Brendan Taylor, and Darrell Stoddard, who each chipped in one. Mississippi RiverKings was unable to stop the IceGators from sending pucks towards the net, and Louisiana eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. The IceGators were helped by Robert Short, who tallied one goal and one assist. Short scored 12:52 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Denny Kearney provided the assist. Louisiana also got a goal from Clark Byczynski as well. In addition, Louisiana received assists from Matthew Robertson and Eric Tallent, who contributed one a piece. Matthew Krahn recorded 33 saves for Mississippi RiverKings. Mississippi RiverKings incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Louisiana's Riley Gill stopped 31 shots out of the 35 that he faced. The IceGators incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
