McQuade's big game bests Huntsville in 6-2 Fayetteville win

The Fayetteville FireAntz's Josh McQuade had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 6-2 win over the Huntsville Havoc.

McQuade found the back of the net 2:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fayetteville and again while 13:12 into the first to make the score 3-0 Fayetteville.

The Fayetteville penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled four minors and three majors for 23 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 19.0 minutes per game the FireAntz had been spending in the box. Fayetteville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Huntsville to score on any of its four power plays.

Fayetteville additionally got points from Derek Elliott, who also had one goal and two assists and Kyle McNeil, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Mike Gurtler also scored for Fayetteville. Other players who recorded assists for Fayetteville were Brandon Richardson, who had one and Brian Elser, Bobby Reed, and Kyle Frieday, who contributed two a piece.

The Havoc's offense was clicking better than usual and put 39 shots on goal during the game, better than the 22.9 shots per game they average.

Shane Madolora recorded 37 saves for the FireAntz. Fayetteville registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Huntsville's starting goalie, Jonathan LaRose, made 15 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Dan McWhinney, who stopped six shots. The Havoc ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and three majors.
