McQuade nets hat trick, leads Fayetteville to 4-2 win over AugustaPhoenix Refrigeration Ice Thu, Nov 29, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Augusta RiverHawks could not stop the Fayetteville FireAntz's Josh McQuade, who tallied a hat trick in a 4-2 win. McQuade's first goal came 10:51 into the first period. He then added goals at 16:04 into the third and at 19:13 into the third.Fayetteville's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Augusta power plays. The FireAntz relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as McQuade, Andrew Smale and Anthony Bergin took 19 of the team's 37 shots. Fayetteville also got a goal from Kyle Frieday as well. In addition, Fayetteville received assists from Bobby Reed, who had two and Mike Kavanagh, Corey Toy, and Brian Elser, who contributed one a piece. By firing 37 shots on goal, Augusta exceeded the 30.6 shots it averages per game this year. The RiverHawks were helped by Pat Schafer, who racked up one goal. Schafer scored 3:54 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Fayetteville. Chad Ziegler provided the assist. Kyle Watson also scored for Augusta. Other players who recorded assists for Augusta were Drew Baker and Shawn Skelly, who each chipped in one. Marco Emond rejected 35 shots on goal for Fayetteville. The FireAntz totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Robbie Moss made 33 saves for Augusta on 37 shots. The RiverHawks ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. |
