Knoxville boosted by Toomey's play in net, beats Augusta 4-1Phoenix Refrigeration Ice Sat, Nov 24, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Connor Toomey had a standout game with 32 saves, and the Knoxville Ice Bears beat the Augusta RiverHawks 4-1. Knoxville was led by David Segal, who finished with one goal. Segal scored on the power play 8:06 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Knoxville. A tripping penalty on Pat Schafer had put the Ice Bears on the power play. Matt Pierce assisted on the tally. Knoxville kept Augusta's goalie busy throughout the game, and BJ OBrien made 27 saves on 31 shots. Knoxville also got points from Tyler Fernandez, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Knoxville also got a goal from Ricky Helmbrecht as well. In addition, Knoxville received assists from Berkley Scott, who had one and Mark Van Vliet, who had three. The RiverHawks forced the Ice Bears goalie Toomey to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Augusta was led by William Lacasse, who scored the team's only goal. Lacasse scored on the power play 4:58 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Augusta. The RiverHawks had gotten the advantage when Knoxville's Eric Satim was sent off for tripping. Curtis Megginson picked up the assist. The Ice Bears totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-5 on the power play. Augusta totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play.
