Ricky Helmbrecht scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and the Knoxville Ice Bears picked up the extra point in a 3-2 (2-1 SO) win over Mississippi RiverKings. The shootout lasted for 10 attempts between the teams. Mississippi RiverKings' shootout goal was scored by Nick Walsh. In addition to the clincher, Knoxville got a shootout goal from Emery Olauson.The Ice Bears came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Ice Bears kept Mississippi RiverKings' goalie busy throughout the game, and Matthew Krahn made 33 saves on 36 shots. Knoxville was helped by David Segal, who tallied one goal. Segal scored on the power play 6:42 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Mississippi RiverKings. The Ice Bears earned a power play opportunity when Patrick Gaul was put in the box for hooking. Olauson assisted on the tally. Knoxville also got points from Olauson, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Knoxville were Matt Pierce and Berkley Scott, who contributed one a piece. Mississippi RiverKings failed to reach its usual level of shot production, putting 20 pucks on goal after averaging 30.4 shots per game this season.
