Louisiana outlasts Columbus, 4-2Columbus Civic Center Sat, Nov 17, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Louisiana IceGators and the Columbus Cottonmouths was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Louisiana emerged with a 4-2 win. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Denny Kearney secured the win for the IceGators with a goal in the third period. Louisiana was led by Kearney, who racked up one goal. Kearney scored 5:58 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Louisiana. Robert Short assisted on the tally. The IceGators stifled Columbus' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Louisiana additionally got points from Eric Tallent, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Louisiana also got a goal from Andrew Howes as well. In addition, Louisiana received assists from Josh Duplantis and Brett Liscomb, who contributed one a piece. The 41 shots that the Cottonmouths put on net surpassed Columbus' average of 29.2 shots per game this season. The Cottonmouths were helped by Orrin Hergott, who tallied one goal. Hergott scored 14:58 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Alex MacLeod picked up the assist. John Sullivan also scored for Columbus. Other players who recorded assists for Columbus were Kevin Kessler, Levi Lind, and Sam Bowles, who each chipped in one. Jesse Kallechy rejected 39 shots on goal for Louisiana. The IceGators totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. Columbus' Andrew Loewen stopped 20 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Cottonmouths totaled seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 0-for-5 on the power play.
