Louisiana outlasts Huntsville, 4-2Cajundome Fri, Nov 16, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Louisiana IceGators escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Huntsville Havoc. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Andrew Howes secured the win for Louisiana with a goal in the second period. Howes was all over the ice for the IceGators, as he registered two goals in the win. Louisiana excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Louisiana also got points from Denny Kearney, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Robert Short, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Louisiana received assists from Marc Andre Carre, Matthew Robertson, and Cody Zubko, who contributed one a piece. Huntsville's offense was clicking better than usual and put 28 shots on goal during the game, better than the 22.2 shots per game it averages. The Havoc were led by Kevin Brojek, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Brojek scored 12:38 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Huntsville. Stuart Stefan picked up the assist. Huntsville also got a goal from Shane Hart as well. More assists for Huntsville came via Aaron McGill, who had one. Jesse Kallechy recorded 26 saves for the IceGators. Louisiana totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-7 on the power play. Dan McWhinney made 22 saves for Huntsville on 26 shots. The Havoc ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major.
