Pensacola rides Christie to victory over Augusta, 3-1

Phoenix Refrigeration Ice    Thu, Nov 15, 2012

A stellar performance between the pipes by Steve Christie helped the Pensacola Ice Flyers defeat the Augusta RiverHawks, 3-1.

Pensacola was led by John Dunbar, who tallied one goal and one assist. Dunbar scored 16:12 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Pensacola. Aaron Schmit provided the assist.

The Ice Flyers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Augusta to score on any of its three power plays.

Ryan Salvis also scored for Pensacola. Other players who recorded assists for Pensacola were Jordan Chong, who had one.

The RiverHawks stifled Pensacola's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Augusta could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game. The 32 shots that the RiverHawks put on net surpassed Augusta's average of 26.3 shots per game this season.

The RiverHawks were led by Michael Switzer, who scored the team's only goal. Switzer scored 8:49 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Augusta. Drew Baker picked up the assist.
