Mississippi RiverKings tried its best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Louisiana IceGators would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 2-1. A goal by Denny Kearney put Louisiana up 2-0 in the third period, but Mississippi RiverKings pulled to within one on Kevin Willer's tally 12:31 into the third period. The IceGators were sparked by Kearney, who had one goal. Kearney scored 10:10 into the third period to make the score Louisiana. Robert Short provided the assist. Louisiana also got a goal from Brett Liscomb as well. In addition, Louisiana received assists from Shawn McNeil and Matt Miller, who each chipped in one. Mississippi RiverKings put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Louisiana to score on any of its three power plays. Mississippi RiverKings was below its usual level of shot production, taking 24 shots compared to the 31.0 Mississippi RiverKings averages. Other players who recorded assists for Mississippi RiverKings were Andrew Randazzo and Todd Hosmer, who contributed one a piece. Riley Gill recorded 23 saves for the IceGators. Louisiana ended with 26 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors. Mississippi RiverKings' Matthew Krahn stopped 24 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Mississippi RiverKings totaled 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
