Louisiana wins tough contest against Pensacola, 3-2Pensacola Bay Center Sat, Nov 03, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Louisiana IceGators and the Pensacola Ice Flyers was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Louisiana emerged with a 3-2 win. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Matt Miller at 17:58 of the third period. The IceGators were sparked by Miller, who grabbed one goal. Louisiana excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Pensacola was unable to stop the IceGators from sending pucks towards the net, and Louisiana eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. Shawn McNeil also scored for Louisiana. Other players who recorded assists for Louisiana were Denny Kearney and Kirk Byczynski, who contributed one a piece. With 39 shots on target during the contest, the Ice Flyers exceeded the 31.8 shots they average per game this year. Pensacola was helped by Tyler Soehner, who had one goal. Soehner scored 13:58 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Louisiana. Ryan Salvis picked up the assist. Pensacola also got a goal from John Dunbar as well. In addition, Pensacola received assists from Jordan Chong, who had two. The IceGators' Riley Gill stopped 37 shots out of the 39 that he faced. Louisiana incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Ross MacKinnon rejected 28 shots on goal for the Ice Flyers. Pensacola incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
