Louisiana boosted by Gill's play in net, beats Huntsville 4-1

The Louisiana IceGators relied on the sparkling performance of Riley Gill in net to grab a 4-1 win against the Huntsville Havoc.

Louisiana's penalty kill excelled, as the IceGators gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

Louisiana was led by Jordy Trottier, who tallied one goal. Trottier scored 1:40 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Louisiana. Josh Duplantis provided the assist.

The IceGators kept Huntsville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Dan McWhinney made 27 saves on 31 shots.

Louisiana also got a goal from Clark Byczynski as well. More assists for Louisiana came via Denny Kearney, who had two and Tyler Lyon, Robert Short, Eric Tallent, and Kirk Byczynski, who contributed one a piece.

The Havoc forced Louisiana goalie Gill to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Huntsville was led by Justin Fox, who scored the team's only goal. Fox scored on the power play 5:15 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Louisiana. The Havoc had gotten the advantage when the IceGators' Trottier was sent off for tripping. Ray Ortiz assisted on the tally.

Gill rejected 32 shots on goal for Louisiana. The IceGators incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Huntsville incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
