Fayetteville rides Emond to victory over Knoxville, 4-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Marco Emond helped the Fayetteville FireAntz defeat the Knoxville Ice Bears, 4-1.

Fayetteville was paced by Anthony Bergin, who had one goal. Bergin scored 2:01 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Fayetteville. Kyle Frieday provided the assist.

The FireAntz excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Knoxville was unable to stop Fayetteville from sending pucks towards the net, and the FireAntz eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Derek Elliott also scored for Fayetteville. More assists for Fayetteville came via Mike Kavanagh, Brandon Richardson, Bobby Reed, Justin Faryna, and Andrew Smale, who each chipped in one.

The Ice Bears' offense rang up 38 shots on Fayetteville's net. Knoxville's defensemen also contributed in the offensive zone and ended up with 19 shots between them.

The Ice Bears were led by Shaun Arvai, who scored the team's only goal. Arvai scored 2:54 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Fayetteville. Mike Towns assisted on the tally.

Marco Emond made 37 saves for the FireAntz on 38 shots. Fayetteville incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Kyle Rank recorded 32 saves for Knoxville. The Ice Bears incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
