Shapiro stymies Frederick Freeze, Brewster Bulldogs wins 4-1

Brewster Bulldogs relied on the scoring touch of Patrick McKiernan, who netted two goals, to beat Frederick Freeze, 4-1.

McKiernan scored at 7:57 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Brewster Bulldogs and again while on the power play 16:16 into the first to make the score 4-0 Brewster Bulldogs.

Frederick Freeze was stymied by Brewster Bulldogs netminder Zachary Shapiro, who stopped 25 shots during the victory. The solid play of Shapiro will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 4.24.

Brewster Bulldogs put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Frederick Freeze to score on any of its three power plays. Frederick Freeze was unable to stop Brewster Bulldogs from sending pucks towards the net, and Brewster Bulldogs eventually piled up 44 shots on goal.

Brewster Bulldogs also got points from Gunnar Boeschl, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Richard Folchetti also scored for Brewster Bulldogs. Other players who recorded assists for Brewster Bulldogs were Steve Pallos and Austin King, who each chipped in one and Connor Bubolo and David Morgan, who contributed two a piece.

Brewster Bulldogs incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Frederick Freeze's John Ketzenberger stopped 40 shots out of the 44 that he faced. Frederick Freeze incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
