Buchanan's big game bests Brewster Bulldogs in 11-0 Junior Bruins win

Junior Bruins' John Buchanan had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 11-0 win over Brewster Bulldogs.

Buchanan found the back of the net 9:34 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Junior Bruins and again while 12:06 into the first to make the score 2-0 Junior Bruins.

Ryan Porter spearheaded the defensive effort for Junior Bruins, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 25 saves for the shutout. Porter managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.4 prior to the game.

Junior Bruins pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 39 penalty minutes.

Junior Bruins stifled Brewster Bulldogs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Junior Bruins was steadier on the defensive front than it has been for much of this season. Junior Bruins gives up 2.2 goals on average per game. Junior Bruins' offense rang up 32 shots on Brewster Bulldogs' net. Junior Bruins bested its season scoring average. Junior Bruins also got points from Ryan Azar, who also finished with one goal and three assists, Nicholas Capalbo, who also registered one goal and four assists, Michael Centerbar, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Tyler Kirby, who also had two goals and two assists, and Tucker Falk, who also finished with two goals and three assists. Altan Atamer also scored for Junior Bruins. More assists for Junior Bruins came via Jordan Hanahan, who had two and Bryan Nelson and James Blute, who contributed one a piece.

Brewster Bulldogs forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. Brewster Bulldogs surpassed its season average of 13.0 penalty minutes per game. Brewster Bulldogs' offense operated below it season average. Brewster Bulldogs averages 2.4 goals per game.
