NY AppleCore wins tough contest against Brewster, 4-2

The NY AppleCore Minor B gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Brewster Bulldogs.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Robert DeLury's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

NY AppleCore was led by DeLury, who grabbed one goal. DeLury scored 4:56 into the third period to make the score 3-2 NY AppleCore. Brian Birbrayer provided the assist.

In the losing effort, Brewster was paced by Kevin McGee, who finished with two goals. McGee scored the first of his two goals short handed at 16:49 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brewster. The Bulldogs found themselves down a man on Sean Henderson's slashing. McGee's next tally short handed made the score 2-2 with 17:53 left in the third period. Francesco Sherding picked up the assist.

The Minor B managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. NY AppleCore ended up below its season average of 15.0 penalty minutes per game. The Minor B forced Brewster goalie Conor Bunyan to work between the pipes, taking 59 shots.

NY AppleCore also got a goal from Michael Conslato as well. In addition, NY AppleCore received assists from Jonas Toupal, who had two and Cameron Giertych, Michael Rodriguez, Christoph Mutschin, and Kevin T Miller, who each chipped in one.

The Bulldogs managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Brewster finished below its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game.

Mutschin recorded 27 saves for NY AppleCore. The Minor B registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. Conor Bunyan made 55 saves for the Bulldogs on 58 shots. Brewster registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
