Polar Ice House    Sat, Feb 23, 2013

The Atlanta Knights had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-0 win over the East Coast Eagles.

Atlanta's penalty kill excelled, as the Knights gave up zero goals despite allowing nine power plays.

Atlanta was sparked by Zachary Egan, who had one goal and one assist. Egan scored 5:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Atlanta.

The Knights were often in penalty trouble, totaling 10 minors and one major for 25 minutes in penalty time. Atlanta had been averaging 16.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Knights stifled East Coast's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Atlanta kept the Eagles' goalie busy throughout the game, and Conner Fissel made 25 saves on 31 shots.

Atlanta also had goals scored by Austin Ventura, who had two and Christopher Santa Maria, Sage Dugas, and Alex MacInnis, who scored one goal each. More assists for Atlanta came via Bradley Harley, who had two and Patrick MacDonald, Jack Trischett, Nick Elliott, and Ryan Dumond, who each chipped in one.

East Coast racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 21.0 minutes per game the Eagles had been spending in the box. East Coast was held below its usual level of production. The Eagles put an average of 3.6 pucks into the net per game.
