Syracuse beats Buffalo 3-0 as Schneider gains shutout

Matt Schneider was superb between the pipes for the Syracuse Junior Stars, as he did not allow a goal in a 3-0 victory over the Buffalo Stars.

Anthony Angello had two goals to lead Syracuse to victory. Angello scored at 22 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Syracuse and again while 48 seconds into the third to make the score 3-0 Syracuse.

The Junior Stars forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and one major for 49 minutes in penalty time. Syracuse surpassed its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. The Junior Stars excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Syracuse's defensive play was more effective than usual against Buffalo. The Junior Stars gives up 2.9 goals on average per game. Syracuse's offense rang up 53 shots on the Stars' net.

Syracuse also got a goal from Steven Staversky as well. More assists for Syracuse came via Tyler OMara and Nate Zweig, who contributed one a piece and Jesse Farabee and Nick Sturick, who each chipped in two.

Schneider recorded 26 saves for the Junior Stars. Syracuse registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. For the Junior Stars, Zweig was ejected from the game. Thomas Brown made 50 saves for Buffalo on 53 shots. The Stars ended with 71 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. For Buffalo, Tyler States and Michael Harris were ejected from the contest.
