Schoenberg's big game bests Jersey Wildcats in 6-1 NY AppleCore win

Cale Schoenberg was all over the ice for the NY AppleCore Minor B, as he tallied two goals and one assist in NY AppleCore's 6-1 win over Jersey Wildcats.

Schoenberg found the back of the net 21 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 NY AppleCore and again while 6:03 into the second to make the score 3-1 NY AppleCore.

Jersey Wildcats was stymied by the Minor B netminder Justin Kapelmaster, who stopped 33 shots during the victory. Kapelmaster managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.2 prior to the game.

NY AppleCore stifled Jersey Wildcats' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Minor B forced Jersey Wildcats goalie Gennaro Anzevino to work between the pipes, taking 51 shots. NY AppleCore outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Minor B average 3.8 goals per contest. The defensemen of NY AppleCore were also effective in Jersey Wildcats' zone, and came away with two goals.

NY AppleCore also got points from Jonas Toupal, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Blake Manginell, who also registered one goal and one assist. Michael Conslato also scored for NY AppleCore. More assists for NY AppleCore came via Brian Birbrayer, Dominick Sacco, John Stevenson, Jonathan Kaszuba, and Robert DeLury, who contributed one a piece and Nolan Pues and Nicolas Jasmin, who each chipped in two.

Jersey Wildcats was held below its usual level of production. Jersey Wildcats puts an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game. The Minor B were unable to stop Jersey Wildcats from sending pucks towards the net, and Jersey Wildcats eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Jersey Wildcats was led by Brandon Crawley, who scored the team's only goal. Crawley scored 5:40 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Erik Andersson provided the assist.

NY AppleCore incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Gennaro Anzevino made 45 saves for Jersey Wildcats on 51 shots. Jersey Wildcats incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
