NY AppleCore uses shootout to best Philadelphia, 5-4 (2-0 SO)Warwick Ice Rink 1 Sun, Feb 03, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the NY AppleCore Minor B defeated the Philadelphia Revolution in a shootout 5-4 (2-0 SO). The shootout lasted for four attempts between the teams. NY AppleCore also got a shootout goal from Dominick Sacco.Michael Conslato had two goals and one assist to lead the Minor B. Conslato scored the first of his two goals at 16 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-1 NY AppleCore. Sacco assisted on the tally. Conslato's next tally made the score 3-1 NY AppleCore with 19:21 left in the second period. NY AppleCore stifled Philadelphia's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. NY AppleCore also got points from Sacco, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. James Sharpe also scored for NY AppleCore. Other players who recorded assists for NY AppleCore were Nicholas Mardirossian, Nolan Pues, and Nicolas Jasmin, who contributed one a piece. The Revolution put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Minor B to score on any of their four power plays. Philadelphia gave up more goals than its normal season average. The Revolution average 2.0 goals allowed per game. Philadelphia was helped by Jamie Crane, who grabbed one goal. Crane scored 5:58 into the second period to make the score 3-2 NY AppleCore. Benjamin Orlowski provided the assist. Philadelphia additionally got points from Orlowski, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Philadelphia also got a goal from Alex Dyer as well. In addition, Philadelphia received assists from Daniel Coley, Ethan Weiss, and Taylor Glanding, who each chipped in one. NY AppleCore's Justin Kapelmaster stopped 25 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Minor B incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Christopher DAlessio recorded 14 saves for the Revolution. Philadelphia incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
