NY AppleCore survives Frederick comeback, wins 4-3Skate Frederick Sun, Jan 27, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Frederick Freeze tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the NY AppleCore Minor B held on for a 4-3 victory. A goal by Blake Manginell put NY AppleCore up 2-0 in the second period, but Frederick pulled to within one on Reid Bibb's tally 2:29 into the third period. The Minor B got the win behind a great game by Robert DeLury, who had one goal and two assists. DeLury scored on the power play 17:24 into the third period to make the score 3-3. NY AppleCore had taken the advantage when the Freeze's Adam Taylor got sent off for checking from behind. Liam Pues assisted on the tally. The Minor B's offense rang up 42 shots on Frederick's net. NY AppleCore found itself short handed often, totaling 20 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays. NY AppleCore also got points from Pues, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Andrew DeAngelis also scored for NY AppleCore. In addition, NY AppleCore received assists from James Sharpe, who had two and Cale Schoenberg, Jonas Toupal, and Justin Kapelmaster, who each chipped in one. The Freeze were often in penalty trouble, totaling nine minors and one major for 23 minutes in penalty time. Frederick had been averaging 20.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Freeze's offense operated below they season average. Frederick averages 5.1 goals per game. The Freeze kept the Minor B's goalie busy throughout the game, and Kapelmaster made 38 saves on 41 shots. Frederick was led by Richard Novodomec, who registered one goal and one assist. Novodomec scored 8:22 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Zachary Pard picked up the assist. Frederick additionally got points from Bibb, who also had one goal and one assist. Frederick also got a goal from Nicholas Price as well. Other players who recorded assists for Frederick were Ian Soifer, Logan Coomes, and Florian Cotera, who contributed one a piece. NY AppleCore registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Michal Marcinek rejected 38 shots on goal for the Freeze.
