NY AppleCore vanquishes Jersey Hitmen in shootout, 1-0 (2-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the NY AppleCore Minor B defeated Jersey Hitmen in a shootout 1-0 (2-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for four attempts between the teams. NY AppleCore's other shootout goal was scored by Dominick Sacco.

Justin Kapelmaster spearheaded the defensive effort for the Minor B, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 29 saves for the shutout. The solid play of Kapelmaster will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.24.

NY AppleCore's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Jersey Hitmen power plays. The Minor B were held below their usual level of production. NY AppleCore puts an average of 3.7 pucks into the net per game. The Minor B featured an improved defense during the game. NY AppleCore gives up 2.4 goals on average per game. The Minor B's offense rang up 45 shots on Jersey Hitmen's net.

Jersey Hitmen excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Jersey Hitmen could not produce up to it normal offensive output. Jersey Hitmen averages 4.3 goals per game.

NY AppleCore incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Jersey Hitmen's Jordan Hulahan stopped 44 shots out of the 44 that he faced. Jersey Hitmen incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
