Connor's goals lift Philadelphia to 4-1 victory over Buffalo

Holiday Twin Rinks    Sun, Jan 13, 2013

Chris Connor was all over the ice for the Philadelphia Revolution, as he tallied two goals in Philadelphia's 4-1 win over the Buffalo Stars.

Connor scored at 19:21 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Philadelphia and again while 10:36 into the second to make the score 3-1 Philadelphia.

Buffalo's power play was ineffective against the Revolution's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Philadelphia put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Stars to score on any of their 10 power plays. Buffalo was unable to stop the Revolution from sending pucks towards the net, and Philadelphia eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. The Revolution could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

Philadelphia additionally got points from Ethan Weiss, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Philadelphia also got a goal from William Hayden as well. Other players who recorded assists for Philadelphia were Dylan Pearl, who had two and Ross Asroff, Justin Goldstein, Nicholas Minerva, and Zachary England, who contributed one a piece.

The Stars were led by Patrick Schmelzinger, who scored the team's only goal. Schmelzinger scored 14:37 into the first period to make the score 1-1.

Griffin Strain made 16 saves for Philadelphia on 17 shots. The Revolution registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Thomas Brown recorded 28 saves for Buffalo. The Stars incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
