Early goals doom Potomac, falls to Frederick, 12-2

The Potomac Patriots fell behind early, and the Frederick Freeze kept piling on the points on the way to a 12-2 victory.

Zachary Pard was all over the ice for Frederick, as he tallied four goals and one assist in the win. Pard's first goal came 5:14 into the first period. He then added goals at 8:51 into the first, at 12:48 into the first, and at 13:45 into the third.

Potomac's 11 penalties came back to haunt it, as the Patriots let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

The Freeze forced Patriots' goalies to work all game long, getting 67 shots and forcing 55 saves. Patrick Anderson made seven stops and TJ Hollen made 48. Frederick found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Freeze have scored at the pace of 4.9 goals per game during the current campaign. Frederick struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 20 penalty minutes for five opposing power plays.

Frederick additionally got points from Reid Bibb, who also grabbed two goals and one assist, Casey Donegan, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Richard Novodomec, who also registered one goal and three assists, Logan Coomes, who also had two goals and two assists, and Florian Cotera, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Frederick also got a goal from Samuel Buran as well. Other players who recorded assists for Frederick were Ryley Harper, Eric Gausseres, Ian Soifer, and Adam Taylor, who contributed one a piece, Adam Gnatowski and Nicholas Price, who each chipped in two, and Michael Shearer and James Stiles, who contributed three a piece.

Potomac was often in penalty trouble, totaling 10 minors and one major for 35 minutes in penalty time. The Patriots surpassed its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game.

Michal Marcinek made 23 saves for the Freeze on 25 shots. For Potomac, Matthew Reynolds was ejected from the game.
