NY AppleCore holds on for 4-2 win against Connecticut

The NY AppleCore Minor B survived a determined comeback attempt by the Connecticut Oilers on the way to a 4-2 win.

A goal by Jonas Toupal put NY AppleCore up 4-1 in the second period, but Connecticut pulled to within two on Stephan Seeger's tally 15:53 into the third period.

The Oilers' power play was ineffective against the Minor B's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

NY AppleCore excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Connecticut was unable to stop the Minor B from sending pucks towards the net, and NY AppleCore eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

The Minor B were led by Blake Manginell, who racked up one goal and one assist. Manginell scored 10:22 into the first period to make the score 2-0 NY AppleCore. Andrew Barroso assisted on the tally. Nicolas Jasmin also scored for NY AppleCore. In addition, NY AppleCore received assists from Andrew DeAngelis, Nolan Pues, Liam Pues, and Robert DeLury, who each chipped in one.

The Oilers were helped by Mark Leprine, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Leprine scored 16:10 into the second period to make the score 3-1 NY AppleCore. Ryan Harper picked up the assist. Connecticut also got points from Seeger, who also had one goal and one assist.

Justin Kapelmaster made 28 saves for NY AppleCore on 30 shots. The Minor B incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Gryphon Richardson recorded 30 saves for Connecticut. The Oilers incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
