Manginell lifts NY AppleCore over Philadelphia, 5-1

Blake Manginell had two goals to lead the NY AppleCore Minor B to a 5-1 victory over the Philadelphia Revolution.

Manginell found the back of the net 4:13 into the first period to make the score 1-0 NY AppleCore and again while on the power play 16:20 into the second to make the score 3-1 NY AppleCore.

Philadelphia was stymied by NY AppleCore netminder Justin Kapelmaster, who stopped 35 shots during the victory. Kapelmaster certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.86 entering the contest.

The Minor B forced the Revolution goalie Justin Kirk to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.

NY AppleCore additionally got points from Kevin T Miller, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Andrew DeAngelis also scored for NY AppleCore. Other players who recorded assists for NY AppleCore were Zachary Stamates, Jonas Toupal, John Stevenson, Liam Pues, and Nicolas Jasmin, who contributed one a piece and Cale Schoenberg and Jonathan Kaszuba, who each chipped in two.

Philadelphia could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Revolution average 5.0 goals per game. NY AppleCore was unable to stop Philadelphia from sending pucks towards the net, and the Revolution eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. Philadelphia's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Revolution are averaging 2.0 goals against for the season.

Philadelphia was led by Nicholas Minerva, who scored the team's only goal. Minerva scored on the power play 17:18 into the first period to make the score 1-1. An elbowing penalty on Nolan Pues had put the Revolution on the power play. Connor Bechtel picked up the assist.

The Minor B incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Philadelphia's Kirk stopped 35 shots out of the 39 that he faced. The Revolution incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
