Flynn's hat trick boosts Adirondack over Buffalo, 8-1

A hat trick by Matt Flynn was the highlight in Junior Wings' 8-1 win against the Buffalo Stars.

Flynn's first goal came 15:24 into the first period. He then added goals at 13:58 into the second and at 10:12 into the third.

Buffalo trailed by one after the first period, but the Adirondack Junior Wings went into the second intermission with a 6-0 lead and never looked back.

Adirondack's Chet Tooker was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 33 saves and let only one puck past him. Tooker managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.87 prior to the game.

The Junior Wings' offense rang up 53 shots on the Stars' net. Adirondack excelled on the penalty kill, only allowing Buffalo to get one power play goal on 12 chances. The Junior Wings outdid their season average for goals scored. Adirondack averages 2.7 goals per game. The Junior Wings were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 26 penalty minutes.

Adirondack also got points from Andrew Bourdeau, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Cam Shepardson, who also had one goal and one assist, and Nicholas Oda, who also registered one goal and two assists. Shane Kanaly also scored for Adirondack. In addition, Adirondack received assists from Sam Vincent, who had three and Matt State, Brian Daury, Cameron Kuhl, and Andrew Mundweiler, who contributed one a piece.

The Stars' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Adirondack power plays. Buffalo's offense rang up 34 shots on Adirondack's net.

Lawson Fenton made 45 saves for the Stars on 53 shots. Buffalo incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
