Syracuse downs Salem, 10-0

Jesse Farabee tallied one point to lead the Syracuse Junior Stars to a 10-0 victory over the Salem Ice Dogs.

Syracuse put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Salem to score on any of its four power plays. The Junior Stars featured an improved defense during the game. Syracuse averages 2.1 goals allowed per game. The Junior Stars kept the Ice Dogs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Anthony Angelesco made 27 saves on 37 shots. Syracuse bested its season scoring average. This season, the Junior Stars average 4.6 goals per contest. Syracuse's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals.

Syracuse additionally got points from Conner Doren, who also grabbed two goals and two assists, Benjamin Engelbrekt, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Joey Rutkowski, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Garth Gray, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Anthony Angello also scored for Syracuse. More assists for Syracuse came via Mike Seifert, who had three, Tom Nicholson, Erik Kurz, Matt Madden, and Brendan Albright, who each chipped in one, and Tyler OMara and Logan Warren, who contributed two a piece.

Nate Skidmore made 14 saves before being replaced by Matt Schneider, who took the win and made 12 saves. The Junior Stars incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Salem ended with nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major.
