South Shore downs Bay State in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

William Sweezey gave the South Shore Kings a 5-4 (OT) victory over the Bay State Breakers when he scored 1:11 into the extra period.

Although South Shore was up by as many as two goals in the second period, Bay State kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. The Breakers pulled to within 3-2 on a goal by Gavin Yates at 51 seconds in the third period.

Bay State's power play was ineffective against the Kings' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

South Shore forced the Breakers goalie Matthew Farrell to work between the pipes, taking 51 shots. The Kings got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. South Shore could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

South Shore additionally got points from Philip Falkof, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Evan Jacques, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Beau Starrett also scored for South Shore. In addition, South Shore received assists from Christopher Oliveira and Arturs Buss, who each chipped in one and Stephen Rocchio, Daniel Clifford, and Kevin Divver, who contributed two a piece.

The Kings were unable to stop Bay State from sending pucks towards the net, and the Breakers eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals.

Bay State was helped by Henry Nelson, who tallied one goal. Nelson scored on the power play 7:30 into the third period to make the score 3-3. The Breakers earned a power play opportunity when Dillon Gargano was put in the box for holding. Antonio Marini picked up the assist. Bay State also got points from Yates, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Bay State also got a goal from Collin Vanderveen as well. More assists for Bay State came via Ryan ODonnell, who had two and Nicholas Russo, John Sheehan, Kevin Sheehan, and Ryan Dunn, who each chipped in one.

Ian Freeman made 38 saves for South Shore on 42 shots. The Kings registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. Farrell recorded 46 saves for Bay State. The Breakers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
