Missoula beats Yellowstone 6-5 after comeback scareGlacier Ice Rink Sat, Feb 23, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Missoula Maulers survived a determined comeback attempt by the Yellowstone Quake on the way to a 6-5 win. A goal by Joey Sundgren put Missoula up 6-2 in the third period, but Yellowstone pulled to within one on Jimmy Tich's tally 19:18 into the third period. Sundgren had one goal and four assists to lead the Maulers. Sundgren scored on the power play 7:43 into the third period to make the score Missoula. Missoula had gotten the advantage when the Quake's Josh Greenaker was sent off for interference. Christian Manning assisted on the tally. Missoula additionally got points from Zach Paisley, who also had two goals and one assist. Missoula also got a goal from Paigg Maul as well. In addition, Missoula received assists from Dustin Pierce, who had two and Niko Pukkila, Dylan Chase, and Donovan Mattfeldt, who contributed one a piece. George Splichal also scored for Yellowstone. Other players who recorded assists for Yellowstone were Tanner Fricke and Trent Carter, who each chipped in one and Anthony Leong and Sam Basich, who contributed two a piece. Cody Janzen made 18 saves for the Maulers on 23 shots. Missoula incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Yellowstone's starting goalie, Jared Schletty, made 17 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Rocco Yapello, who stopped four shots. The Quake incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
