Helena falls to Yellowstone in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Yellowstone Quake pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Helena Bighorns on a clutch goal by Bryan Standly.

Yellowstone was led by Standly, who had one goal. Standly scored 32 seconds into overtime to make the score 5-4 Yellowstone. Josh Neumann picked up the assist.

The Quake's offense rang up 41 shots on Helena's net.

Yellowstone additionally got points from Anthony Leong, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, George Splichal, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Brandon Busse, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Jimmy Tich also scored for Yellowstone. More assists for Yellowstone came via Tanner Fricke and Brandon Smith, who each chipped in one and Michael Berens and Sam Basich, who contributed two a piece.

The Bighorns were held below their usual level of production. Helena averages 6.8 goals per game. The Bighorns kept Yellowstone's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jared Schletty made 46 saves on 50 shots. Helena's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Bighorns are averaging 1.2 goal against for the season. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Helena was helped by Jacob Wolter, who finished with one goal. Wolter scored 2:19 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Helena. Chris Andre provided the assist. Helena also got a goal from Dillon Mershon as well. Other players who recorded assists for Helena were Corbin Belling, who had two and Theo Campe, Kyle Baker, Ben Henne, Nick Okada, and Cody Blom, who each chipped in one.

The Quake incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Jett Salinas rejected 36 shots on goal for the Bighorns. Helena incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
