Corbin Belling netted a hat trick to lead the Helena Bighorns over the Billings Bulls, 15-0. Belling's first goal came 17:33 into the first period. He then added goals at 19:59 into the first and at 10:16 into the second.Helena gained an early advantage, leading 4-0 by the end of the first period. Alek Lazarski spearheaded the defensive effort for the Bighorns, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 36 saves for the shutout. The solid play of Lazarski will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 0.93. Helena was often in penalty trouble, totaling 10 minors and one major for 25 minutes in penalty time. The Bighorns surpassed its season average of 18.0 penalty minutes per game. Helena forced Billings' netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, taking 82 shots and forcing 67 saves. Nic Wackerly made 21 stops and Brennan Clarke made 46. The Bighorns put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Bulls to score on any of their seven power plays. Helena found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Bighorns average 6.8 goals per contest. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. The Billings penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 14 minors and four majors for 108 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 26.0 minutes per game the Bulls had been spending in the box. Billings could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Bulls average 2.8 goals per game. Billings' offense rang up 36 shots on Helena's net. The Bulls' penalty kill unit could not stop the Bighorns' power play, which converted on nine of 15 opportunities.
