Cavan's hat trick boosts Gillette over Bozeman, 7-1

Haynes Pavillion    Sat, Feb 09, 2013

The Bozeman Icedogs could not stop the Gillette Wild's Tyler Cavan, who tallied a hat trick in a 7-1 win.

Cavan notched his first tally 15:45 into the first period. He then added goals at 9:36 into the second and at 17:52 into the second.

Gillette put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Bozeman to score on any of its three power plays. The Icedogs were unable to stop the Wild from sending pucks towards the net, and Gillette eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. The Wild outdid their season average for goals scored. Gillette averages 4.8 goals per game.

Gillette also got points from Taylor Motsinger, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Gillette included Alex King, who had one and Trent Dillinger, who had two. In addition, Gillette received assists from Tyson Loundagin, who had one and Steve Patafio, who had two.

Bozeman was led by Tyler Elson, who scored the team's only goal. Elson scored 4:41 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Gillette. Steven Nisbet picked up the assist.

The Wild's Brandon Kruckenberg stopped 20 shots out of the 21 that he faced. Gillette incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. John Shavic made 30 saves for the Icedogs on 37 shots. Bozeman incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
