Yellowstone survives Bozeman comeback, wins 7-5

The Yellowstone Quake, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Yellowstone and clinched a 7-5 victory.

The Quake led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Yellowstone's George Splichal's scored at 33 seconds in the third period to put the Quake up 5-2.

Yellowstone forced the Bozeman Icedogs goalie John Shavic to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. The Quake's goal total was higher than their season average. Yellowstone averages 4.8 goals per game. The Quake got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Yellowstone was helped by Orri Haman, who racked up one goal and one assist. Haman scored on the power play 13:44 into the third period to make the score 6-5 Yellowstone. The Quake had gained a power play chance when Steven Nisbet was whistled for hooking. Michael Berens picked up the assist. Yellowstone additionally got points from Splichal, who also registered two goals and one assist. Yellowstone also got a goal from Tanner Fricke as well. In addition, Yellowstone received assists from Jimmy Tich, who had two, Andrew Lansing, who had three, and Anthony Leong, Tommy Toohey, and Brandon Busse, who contributed one a piece.

Bozeman found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Icedogs have scored at the pace of 1.4 goal per game during the current campaign.

Bozeman was led by Trent Carter, who finished with one goal and two assists. Carter scored 11:36 into the third period to make the score 5-4 Yellowstone. Spencer Hallin assisted on the tally. Bozeman also got points from Jesse Game, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Jason Henry also scored for Bozeman. Other players who recorded assists for Bozeman were Jake Nicks and Tyler Elson, who each chipped in one.

Yellowstone took out Rocco Yapello after he had made 20 saves and installed Sean Flannigan in goal, where he finished with one save and the win. The Quake incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Shavic rejected 27 shots on goal for the Icedogs. Bozeman incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
