Billings blows out Bozeman, 6-0

The Billings Bulls were firing on all cylinders against the Bozeman Icedogs, and when the final buzzer sounded Bulls emerged with a 6-0 win.

Jarrett Stark was all over the ice for Billings, as he tallied one goal and three assists in the win. Stark scored 5:49 into the second period to make the score 5-0 Billings. Stephen Thompson picked up the assist.

The Bulls racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. Billings surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. The Bulls excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Billings' defense was surprisingly good. The Bulls allow 3.0 goals per game. Billings' offense rang up 54 shots on Bozeman's net. The Bulls surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Billings has scored at the pace of 3.1 goals per game during the current campaign. The defensemen of the Bulls were also effective in the Icedogs' zone, and came away with three goals.

Billings also got points from Adam Wikingsson, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Thompson, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, and Reed Kaiser, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Nick Rizzo also scored for Billings. Other players who recorded assists for Billings were Luke Bing and Alex Herman, who each chipped in one.

Bozeman was often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and three majors for 57 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 17.0 minutes per game the Icedogs had been spending in the box.

Billings' Matt Hultman stopped 15 shots out of the 15 that he faced. The Bulls registered one goal on six power play opportunities. John Shavic recorded 48 saves for Bozeman. The Icedogs ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Tristen Franzen was ejected from the game.
