Despite having to fight off several power plays, the Missoula Maulers were able to defeat the Great Falls Americans, 5-2. Missoula was sparked by Jordan Wheatley, who had one goal. Wheatley scored 17:29 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Missoula. Matt Chamberlain picked up the assist. The Maulers' offense rang up 38 shots on Great Falls' net. Missoula also got points from Joey Sundgren, who also registered one goal and one assist and Cody Ogrin, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Missoula also got a goal from Paigg Maul as well. More assists for Missoula came via Brett Mathews, who had two and Niko Pukkila, Tyler Zandhuisen, Dylan Chase, and Donovan Mattfeldt, who contributed one a piece. The Americans' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Missoula power plays. Great Falls was helped by Brady Christiaens, who registered one goal. Christiaens scored 1:27 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Great Falls. Nate Bastian assisted on the tally. Great Falls additionally got points from Bastian, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Great Falls were Lucas Lomax, Daniil Kulikov, and Matt Douglas, who each chipped in one. Cody Janzen made 27 saves for Missoula on 29 shots. The Maulers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Erik Powell rejected 33 shots on goal for the Americans. Great Falls incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
