Bozeman falls apart in second, loses to Helena, 8-1Haynes Pavillion Thu, Jan 17, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Bozeman Icedogs was within striking distance after one period, but the Helena Bighorns put the pedal down in the second en route to an 8-1 victory. Damon Hanson had four goals to lead Helena to victory. Hanson got on the scoresheet 15:35 into the first period. He then added goals at 13:41 into the second, at 17:16 into the second, and at 6:22 into the third. Bozeman's power play was ineffective against the Bighorns' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. Helena excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Bighorns forced the Icedogs goalie Jude Hall to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots. Helena also got a goal from Parker Olson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Helena were Dylan Webster, who had two, Corbin Belling, who had three, and Theo Campe, Wyatt Winfield, Devin Smith, Logan Hawgood, Logan Henne, John Petersson, Nick Okada, and Kevin Choi, who contributed one a piece. Bozeman did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 13 shots on net to force 12 saves. Alek Lazarski rejected 12 shots on goal for Helena. The Bighorns incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Hall recorded 34 saves for the Icedogs. Bozeman incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
