Yellowstone takes care of Bozeman early, wins 11-1

A five-goal first period deficit cost the Bozeman Icedogs, which could not recover and fell to the Yellowstone Quake, 11-1.

Sam Basich was all over the ice for Yellowstone, as he tallied two goals and five assists in the win. Basich scored the first of his two goals at 2:31 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Yellowstone. Michael Berens assisted on the tally. Basich's next tally made the score 6-0 Yellowstone with 7:40 left in the first period. Jimmy Tich picked up the assist.

The Quake made Bozeman's netminders to work in net, getting 49 shots and forcing 38 saves. John Shavic made eight stops and Jude Hall made 30. Yellowstone excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Quake's goal total was higher than their season average. Yellowstone averages 4.6 goals per game.

Yellowstone additionally got points from Tanner Fricke, who also registered one goal and one assist, Berens, who also racked up one goal and three assists, George Splichal, who also had four goals and one assist, Tich, who also tallied one goal and five assists, and Chris Andre, who also registered one goal and three assists. Yellowstone also got a goal from Orri Haman as well. In addition, Yellowstone received assists from Tommy Toohey, Oli Jansson, and TJ Lozier, who each chipped in one.

The Icedogs found themselves stymied offensively, and got off a mere 13 shots against the Quake's defense.

Steven Nisbet also scored for Bozeman. Other players who recorded assists for Bozeman were Trent Carter, who had one.

Yellowstone's Jared Schletty stopped 12 shots out of the 13 that he faced. The Quake incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Bozeman incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
