Great Falls squeaks by Billings, 3-2

The Great Falls Americans gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Billings Bulls.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Daniil Kulikov's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Billings' power play was ineffective against Great Falls' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Americans were sparked by Kulikov, who racked up one goal and one assist. Kulikov scored on the power play 16:58 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Great Falls. Great Falls earned a power play opportunity when Colter Endy was put in the box for interference. Billy Grillo provided the assist.

The Americans were held back by their power play unit, which tallied one goal on 10 chances. Great Falls found itself short handed often, totaling 38 penalty minutes and allowing nine power plays.

Great Falls also got a goal from Doug Keller as well. In addition, Great Falls received assists from Lucas Lomax, who had one.

The Bulls were helped by Dixon Whitehead, who racked up one goal. Whitehead scored 10:06 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Endy assisted on the tally. John Vant also scored for Billings. More assists for Billings came via Luke Bing, Jarrett Stark, and Kyle Blankenship, who contributed one a piece.

Erik Powell recorded 15 saves for the Americans. Nic Wackerly made 18 saves for Billings on 21 shots. The Bulls incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
