Huge game by Busse boosts Yellowstone over Gillette, 6-3Campbell County Ice Arena Fri, Dec 21, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Brandon Busse had one goal and two assists to lead the Yellowstone Quake to a 6-3 victory over the Gillette Wild. Busse scored 15:15 into the first period to make the score 4-1 Yellowstone. Chris Andre picked up the assist. Busse dished an assist on Bryan Standly's goal that made the score 5-2 Yellowstone at 11:13 into the second period. He added another helper on Standly's goal that made the score 6-3 Yellowstone at 10:13 into the third period.Yellowstone's penalty kill excelled, as the Quake gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays. Yellowstone's offense rang up 34 shots on Gillette's net. Yellowstone also got points from Andre, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. George Splichal also scored for Yellowstone. In addition, Yellowstone received assists from Shane Fabian, who had two and Anthony Leong, Tanner Fricke, Tommy Toohey, Orri Haman, Jimmy Tich, Sam Basich, and TJ Lozier, who contributed one a piece. The Wild put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Quake to score on any of their three power plays. Gillette kept Yellowstone's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jared Schletty made 36 saves on 39 shots. The Wild got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Gillette was helped by Taylor Motsinger, who finished with one goal. Motsinger scored 55 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Gillette. Tyler Cavan provided the assist. Gillette additionally got points from Steve Patafio, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Gillette also got a goal from Moco Willis as well. More assists for Gillette came via Brandon Wilbert, Adam Pecht, and Boris Knyazev, who each chipped in one. The Quake incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Nick Vittori made 28 saves for the Wild on 34 shots. Gillette incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
