Billings falls to Yellowstone in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Yellowstone Quake pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Billings Bulls on a clutch goal by Shane Fabian.

Fabian was all over the ice for Yellowstone, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Fabian scored the first of his two goals at 19:11 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Brandon Busse provided the assist. Fabian's next tally made the score 5-4 Yellowstone with 16:36 left in. Busse assisted on the tally.

Billings' power play was ineffective against the Quake's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Yellowstone's offense rang up 47 shots on the Bulls' net.

Yellowstone also got points from Busse, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Sam Basich, who also had two goals and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Yellowstone were Kyle Sandera and Jimmy Tich, who contributed one a piece and George Splichal and Bryan Standly, who each chipped in two.

Billings excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances. The Bulls kept the Quake's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jared Schletty made 28 saves on 32 shots.

Billings was helped by Kyle Blankenship, who registered two goals. Blankenship scored the first of his two goals at 8:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Billings. Dexter Nealy provided the assist. Blankenship's next tally made the score 4-4 with 14:34 left in the third period. Stephen Thompson assisted on the tally. Billings additionally got points from Nealy, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Erik Schulte also scored for Billings. In addition, Billings received assists from Trey Robillard, Adam Wikingsson, and Nick Rizzo, who contributed one a piece.

Yellowstone incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Nic Wackerly rejected 42 shots on goal for the Bulls. Billings incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
