In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Billings Bulls escaped with a 5-4 victory over the Bozeman Icedogs.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Stephen Thompson secured the win for Billings with a goal in the third period.

Jarrett Stark had two goals and one assist to lead the Bulls. Stark scored the first of his two goals at 16:57 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Thompson provided the assist. Stark's next tally made the score 4-3 Billings with 7:36 left in the second period. Nick Rizzo assisted on the tally.

Billings' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Bozeman power plays. The Bulls' offense rang up 43 shots on Bozeman's net. Billings' goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Bulls average 2.8 goals per contest.

Billings also got points from Thompson, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Billings also got a goal from Colter Endy as well. In addition, Billings received assists from Reed Kaiser, who had two and Erik Schulte and Dexter Nealy, who each chipped in one.

The Icedogs put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Billings to score on any of its three power plays. Bozeman surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Icedogs have scored at the pace of 1.4 goal per game during the current campaign.

Bozeman was led by Ben Henry, who registered one goal and one assist. Henry scored 2:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Bozeman. Michael Kurfess provided the assist. Bozeman additionally got points from Trent Carter, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Jonathon Benavides also scored for Bozeman. Other players who recorded assists for Bozeman were Tyler Elson and Jesse Game, who contributed one a piece.

Nic Wackerly rejected 11 shots on goal for the Bulls. Billings incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. John Shavic recorded 38 saves for the Icedogs. Bozeman incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
